Pimsleur Inglese L'inglese (nome nativo English) è una lingua indoeuropea appartenente al ramo occidentale delle lingue germaniche, assieme all'olandese, all'alto e basso tedesco, al fiammingo e al frisone. Conserva ancora un'evidente parentela col sassone continentale (dialetto del basso tedesco).

L'inglese occupa una posizione del tutto particolare, non solo rispetto alle lingue germaniche, ma anche all'interno del gruppo linguistico indoeuropeo: ha talmente semplificato e alterato la propria struttura da avvicinarsi ormai più a una lingua isolante piuttosto che ad una lingua flessiva. Dal punto di vista del vocabolario, inoltre, contiene più termini di origine non-germanica (specialmente latina) che germanica, ed è verosimilmente la lingua più aperta all'ingresso di nuovi termini da altre lingue.

A good start to go on studying.
The pronunciation of the sentences is very clear, assertive, warm, and friendly. The guidance to the right pronunciation is excellent, but sometimes it's insufficient (e.g. the sentence "How much do I owe you?") appears once in the course, without guidance to the right pronunciation and it's hard to understand). The course is interactive, there's some right pauses for telling in advance the English sentences after the Italian speaker, and then for repeating them.

At the end of the course I realized that I've enriched by new words and expressions, and that I can speak English and read it too.That's a good start for me to go on studying. I bought this course because I have to study English by myself. I can't study in a class room because I'm hard of hearing. When I got the course and I saw that there's not a book with the written text of the sentences I was astounded. But then I tried to listen to the cassettes on my daily walk and I found out that I could identify all the words little by little, with the help of my hearing aid, a good dictionary, an English grammar book and my family.
